Undergraduate Research and Experiential Learning

The Office of Academic Programs provides several types of fellowships to support undergraduate research and academic experiential learning.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Medical Preceptorship Program

The Preceptorship Program is designed for pre-medical students with at least junior standing and an interest in learning more about the field of Pediatric Medicine. Each student is paired with a faculty mentor at CHLA. Students shadow physicians in five different CHLA departments.

USC Provost’s Undergraduate Research Fellowships

A limited number of fellowships for undergraduate research each academic year in the fall, spring and summer terms. All full-time USC faculty engaged in research are eligible to serve as faculty supervisors.

USC Undergraduate Research Associates Program

The goal of URAP is to provide resources that enable faculty to integrate undergraduates into their scholarly and professional activities. Faculty engage in research with undergraduate students are invited to submit proposals for funding.

USC Research Gateway Scholars Program

The Research Gateway Scholars program encourages low-income and first-generation college students as well as students from historically underrepresented ethnic groups to pursue graduate studies and consider an academic career.
