Student Success Initiative
Student Success at USC is defined as the holistic measure of a student’s flourishing across the dimensions of academic attainment, personal growth and wellbeing, and preparation for professional life.
As a university, we are committed to helping every student to fulfill their potential and achieve their goals, providing supportive environments and experiences that nurture success by connecting them to one another, to their communities, to Los Angeles, and to the world beyond.
In January 2024, Provost Guzman charged a representative group of academic and staff leaders to:
- Establish a university-level Student Success Team to serve as an umbrella organization
- Convene current student success groups representing a diversity of perspectives and approaches
- Collaborate on a shared definition of student success that can be broadly applied and assessed by a common set of metrics
Establish shared goals and progress markers in service to larger institutional aspirations around student success.
The Student Success Team was established in April 2024 to act on the Provost’s charge. A report from the group is expected at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 academic year.
